نشرت قنصلية لبنان العامة في نيويورك بعد ظهر اليوم تعميماً على موقعها الإلكتروني عن آلية تجديد جواز السفر المنتهي الصلاحية أو استصدار جواز جديد لتمكين الرعايا المسجلين لديها من التصويت في الانتخابات النيابية المقبلة في المراكز التي ستخصص لهم ضمن نطاقها. وجاء فيه:

Memo on the Upcoming Parliamentary Elections April 29, 2018

Pursuant to the Lebanese Elections Law number 44 of the year 2017, the identification requirements for voting in the upcoming parliamentary elections are either a Lebanese identification card (plastic card) or a valid machine-readable passport (navy blue format or biometric format).

To facilitate the election process, and only for the Lebanese who are listed on the electoral rolls to vote abroad, and strictly for the purpose of voting on April 29, 2018, and not for the purpose of traveling, the Consulate will be issuing and renewing machine-readable passports for a period of 1 year and for a fee of $0.67 in an expedited manner, as follows:

For new passports:

Machine readable passports are issued solely by the Lebanese competent authorities in Lebanon and applications to obtain them are submitted at the Consular Section.

At the Consular Section, complete in Arabic and English a serial application form for new passports and enclose the following:

·         4 recent passport photos 1.9x1.4 inch with full face and white background.

·         Copy of your Lebanese id or ikhraj kayd issued within the last 10 years.

·         Current passport and a copy of its first 6 pages.

·         Fees: $0.67 for 1 year (only exact cash amount or money orders payable to the Consulate General of Lebanon are accepted).

The new passport will arrive from Lebanon in around 16 days.

When the new passport arrives at the Consulate, the concerned person will be contacted to provide the old passport held for cancellation and to receive the new one either in person at the Consulate or ONLY via UPS self-addressed & prepaid envelope, at your own risk, while noting that we only receive mail on working days and during working hours. Check our holiday and working hours schedule for more details. Also, kindly note that we don’t collect mail from the post office or the offices of any mailing service.

 Via certified mail, if you can’t get to the Consulate, we can send you by regular mail a hard copy of the serial application form for new passports as follows:

1.    Send us via email complete contact information including full address and phone numbers in the US and in Lebanon, along with scanned copies via email of:

o   Lebanese id or ikhraj kayd issued within the last 10 years.

o   Current passport including its first 6 pages.

2.    We will complete the serial application form on your behalf and send it to you via regular mail to be signed and finger printed (right-hand thumb) in front of a notary public.

3.    Send us via certified mail, at your own risk (we only receive mail on working days and during working hours/check our holiday and working hours schedule for more details and note that we don’t collect mail from the post office or the offices of any mailing service):

o   The notarized serial application form

o   Recent passport photos 1.9x1.4 inch with full face and white background.

o   Copy of your Lebanese id or ikhraj kayd issued within the last 10 years.

o   Copy of your current passport including its first 6 pages.

o   Fees: $0.67 for 1 year (only money orders payable to the Consulate General of Lebanon are accepted).

o   If the passport is to be delivered by mail, it will be sent ONLY via UPS self-addressed & prepaid envelope, at your own risk, while noting that we only receive mail on working days and during working hours. Check our holiday and working hours schedule for more details. Also kindly note that we don’t collect mail from the post office or the offices of any mailing service.

The new passport will arrive from Lebanon in around 16 days from the time we receive your request.

For Passport Extensions

At the Consular Section, complete a passport extension application and enclose the following:

·         2 recent passport photos 1.9x1.4 inch with full face and white background.

·         Copy of your Lebanese id or ikhraj keid issued within the last 10 years.

·         Current blue passport and a copy of its first 6 pages.

·         Fingerprint of the right-hand thumb on a specified Consulate form.

·         Fees: $0.67 for 1 year (only exact cash amount or money orders payable to the Consulate General of Lebanon are accepted).

                       If all requirements are met, the extension of the current blue passport will be finished on the same day.

Via certified mail, if you can’t get to the Consulate send us via certified mail, at your own risk (we only receive mail on working days and during working hours/check our holiday and working hours schedule for more details and note that we don’t collect mail from the post office or the offices of any mailing service):

·         Passport extension application completed in person and signed.

·         2 recent passport photos 1.9x1.4 inch with full face and white background.

·         Copy of your Lebanese id or ikhraj keid issued within the last 10 years.

·         Current blue passport and a copy of its first 6 pages.

·         Notarized fingerprint of the right-hand thumb.

·         Fees: $0.67 for 1 year (only money orders payable to the Consulate General of Lebanon are accepted).

·         If the passport is to be delivered by mail, it will be sent ONLY via UPS self-addressed & prepaid envelope, at your own risk, while noting that we only receive mail on working days and during working hours. Check our holiday and working hours schedule for more details. Also, kindly note that we don’t collect mail from the post office or the offices of any mailing service.

If all requirements are met, we will deliver immediately the extended passport.
