جبلنا ماغازين – أوتاوا

بمناسبة اختياره ليكون أحد حملة شعلة ألعاب PAN AM في أوتاوا اليوم، وجه الأب بولس عنيد رسالة إلى أبناء الرعية وأفراد المجتمع والجالية اللبنانية في كندا قال فيها إنه في خلال الدقيقتين اللتين سيحمل فيهما الشعلة ضمن هذه الألعاب في شوراع أوتاوا اعتباراً من الساعة 1:39 بعد ظهر اليوم، فهو يحملها نيابة عن كندا ونيابة عن بلده الأم لبنان.

وإذ لفت إلى ما تمثله هذه الشعلة من رموز كالأخوة والسلام والأمل للكنديين، أشار إلى أنه، بصفته أحد أبناء الانتشار اللبناني وعايش العديد من الازمات والحروب في لبنان، فإن رفعه هذه الشعلة اليوم وهو في 89 من عمره، تحمل دعوة إلى الجميع لكي يتوحدوا في بلدهم الثاني كندا، "كما تحمل دعوة إلى بلدي الحبيب لبنان لكي ينخرط في روح المسابقات الرياضية العالمية والنشاطات الثقافية وينبذ مسببات القلق والاضطراب ودورة العنف التي لا تنتهي".

“Fellow parishioners and community members,

I am proud to be a Torch Bearer of the Pan AM 2015 Games on Tuesday June 30 at 1:39 pm for 2 minutes on Wellington Street Starting at Fairmont Ave and ending at corner of Wellington and Somerset.

You are invited to share my experience as I carry the Pan AM flame on behalf of Canada, and in my own way, on behalf of my Homeland Lebanon.

As I celebrate my torch relay experience with my community I offer the following reflections:

“The Pan Am flame that I carry serves as a Beacon of Fraternity, Peace and Hope for all Canadians. Furthermore as a member of the Canadian Lebanese Diaspora and having lived through many crisis and even wars in our homeland Lebanon, carrying this Torch at age 89 is my personal calling first to my fellow Canadians congratulating us all on what unites us here in our second home, and a second calling for my beloved Lebanon to engage in the spirit of International sports and culture and cast off the root causes of our civic unrest and the never ending cycle of violence.”
